I recently came across this quote from Hugh Nibley:
from a 1973 lecture that Nibley gave at BYU, later reprinted in the collection, What is Zion? Joseph Smith Lecture Series 1972-73.
“…the worst sinners, according to Jesus, are not the harlots and publicans, but the religious leaders with their insistence on proper dress and grooming, their careful observance of all the rules, their precious concern for status-symbols, their strict legality, their pious patriotism...the haircut becomes the test of virtue in a world where Satan deceives and rules by appearances.”
What are your thoughts and feelings about this quote?
Here are two quotes from Elder F. Burton Howard that I think are worth pondering over:
“Certainty is incompatible with learning.”
“The only thing that keeps us from learning more is the false certainty that we know enough.”
What are your thoughts?
Hugh Nibley gave a great discourse at a BYU commencement address. Here it is:

What are your thoughts and feelings after reading this discourse?
I have loved Hugh Nibley’s lecture on leaders-managers for years. He was in such a unique position to call the leaders of BYU ro repentence as he saw them rising in pride of their religious and academic accomplishments and attainments. He longed for the humble followers of Christ to step forward and be counted worthy to stand.
