Shedding Light on Darkness

Jesus said to his disciples, “And again, more blessed are they who shall believe in your words because that ye shall testify that ye have seen me, and that ye know that I am. Yea, blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility” (3 Nephi 12:2).

Alma taught, “And now, because ye are compelled to be humble blessed are ye; for a man sometimes, if he is compelled to be humble, seeketh repentance; and now surely, whosoever repenteth shall find mercy; and he that findeth mercy and endureth to the end the same shall be saved.

14 And now, as I said unto you, that because ye were compelled to be humble ye were blessed, do ye not suppose that they are more blessed who truly humble themselves because of the word?

15 Yea, he that truly humbleth himself, and repenteth of his sins, and endureth to the end, the same shall be blessed—yea, much more blessed than they who are compelled to be humble because of their exceeding poverty.

16 Therefore, blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble; or rather, in other words, blessed is he that believeth in the word of God, and is baptized without stubbornness of heart, yea, without being brought to know the word, or even compelled to know, before they will believe.

17 Yea, there are many who do say: If thou wilt show unto us a sign from heaven, then we shall know of a surety; then we shall believe.

18 Now I ask, is this faith? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for if a man knoweth a thing he hath no cause to believe, for he knoweth it.

19 And now, how much more cursed is he that knoweth the will of God and doeth it not, than he that only believeth, or only hath cause to believe, and falleth into transgression?”

Consider the things shared here and the many witnesses and ask if it will take seeing for you to believe or if you can humble yourself without being compelled.

  2. Thanks for sharing this. It is amazing to me that most members stick their heads in the sand and proclaim, "All is well in Zion". 2 Nephi 28:24.

Unfortunately, nothing is well in Zion and we have been entirely encompassed by the enemy.

It is also telling that Moroni wrote in Either 8:24, that when we see the secret combinations among us not if, that we should awaken.

    1. Yes, we claim to believe in the Book of Mormon but do we really?!?!? It’s sad that a book written for us has been largely ignored and those who believe the book are kicked out of the church. Joseph Smith’s teachings have been taken out of scripture (ie: Lectures on Faith). I’m convinced that he and the Savior would be kicked out of the church today because they wouldn’t sit silently by. They would speak up for truth and righteousness to their membership peril. But, this is the test. Will we do the right thing no matter the consequences? It was in God’s heart all along as it has been with all the precious dispensations too. Do we stick with tradition or do we follow his voice when he sheds light on darkness?
