Nephi commanded us to apply the scriptures to our lives for our “prophet”(sorry, couldn’t help it) and learning.
Have you heard of Emanuel Swedenborg? I hadn't before I learned about him from this podcast. I think you'll like him. He lived during the "age of enlightenment" and claimed to have seen the Saviour Jesus Christ.
