Mormon’s Warnings

I was studying in the Book of Mormon, in the Book of Mormon, today. A couple things that caught my attention:

One, the precept that the wicked are punished by the wicked. The Lamanites start to overcome the Nephites because their numbers are greater than the Nephites. Notice how God doesn’t need numbers. Gideon’s army is one example... or the 2,000 stripling warriors is another of many examples in scripture. It’s about faith in God, not faith in man and putting one’s trust in the arm of flesh. Mormon also noted that the wicked Nephites still struggled for their lives without calling upon that being who created them. Sometimes we put our heads down and push forward when all that is required is to look up and live.

Finally Mormon warns of unbelief and idolatry, common themes in the Book of Mormon, and then pleads with the gentiles, us, “And then, O ye gentiles, how can ye stand before the power of God except ye shall repent and turn from your evil ways? Know ye not that ye are in the hands of God? Know ye not that he hath all power, and at his great command the earth shall be rolled together as a scroll? Therefore, repent ye, and humble yourselves before him, lest he shall come out in justice against you, lest a remnant of the seed of Jacob shall go forth among you as a lion and tear you in pieces, and there is none to deliver.”

The Book of Mormon truly is another witness of the Lord, Jesus Christ, and a warning for our day.
