We See Through a Glass Darkly

I was reading and pondering in Alma 20:8-13. The whole chapter reveals more principles but just these few verses have had me fixated on some key principles that I only see now because of my experiences lately. The scriptures are beautiful because they speak to us in different ways according to how much we are knocking, asking, seeking, receiving and acting upon what we receive. The reality is we are changing and not the scriptures. We are at different levels of light and truth and so the Lord can speak to us through these vehicles of light. The truth is that all of the Lord’s creation testifies of Him and so in our life’s experiences, He is speaking to us. We may have a similar experience as a previous one we’ve had but this time we may have a different response because we have grown and matured spiritually on our path to becoming as He is.

I’m so grateful for this mortal experience and the grace that God gives us in it. Prophecies are being fulfilled. There is no time with God but I believe this second estate we’ve chosen to live in here is coming to an end and we are at a critically steep part in the trail. We can allow Him to reach down and lift us up to higher vistas or we can stay on the easy paths at the base of the mountain before us. The easy path will not stretch us and will end in damnation. We will never be lifted up to the beautiful vista at the peak of the mountain. Moses was at the top of the mountain, beckoning his people to rise up and see the Lord with Him but they would not. They told Moses to speak with Him and let them know what they should do. So he did. He gave them lower laws to work on because they didn’t want the Melchizedek laws that would raise them up to Him.

Many of us have the Melchizedek laws. Are we really using them to give away all of our sins to know Him? Are we pure in heart? Jesus taught that the pure in heart would see God. Notice it is the pure in heart, not the perfect. What idols do we have in our hearts? The Lord is making it more and more obvious to us if we have put our faith and trust in Him or in an idol. He is allowing the idols to self-destruct. If we have our faith in these idols then we will self-destruct with them. The bottom of the mountain is crumbling, we must climb it to stay above it.

I picture it being like the end of the Lord of the Rings. Frodo and Samwise went up the mountain and everything was crumbling around them. At the last moment the eagles miraculously appear and carry them to safety after they fulfilled their missions.

It is interesting that eagles were used in this story. If you want an incredible study, go to JST Revelation 12 and the sign of the woman and all that transpired September 23, 2017. Then go to Revelation 13:14 and cross reference that to JST Luke 17:37-38. The Lord will give you what you are ready for.

God is good. I love Him. I know His gospel is true. Jesus showed us the way and prepared the way that we might know how to follow Him up unto eternal life. Safety and peace is found in following the Lord.
